ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan, while announcing the 45-page verdict on the Faizabad sit-in case, has ordered the federal and provincial governments to monitor the elements fomenting hatred, terrorism and extremism.
The court ruled that the action against the protesters who had blocked the roads during the sit-in. “The participants of the sit-in played with the sentiments of the Muslims,” it ruled.
The court observed that the country had suffered a loss of over Rs 88 billion during the sit-in.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, the Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan is registered in the name of a oversea Pakistani. The amended election rules prohibit sectarianism and hatred. “The party getting some part of its funding from abroad will come under the category of a party getting foreign aid,” the court ruled.
The court observed that a reference could be filed in the ECP against a party running on the foreign funding if it works against the solidarity of the county. “The government issues a notification on the reference and sends it to the Supreme Court.
According to the ECP, the Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan had not provided the details of its funding.
