Fake accounts case: Accused giving financial benefit to Lawai becomes approver

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The accused giving financial benefit to Hussain Lawai, a close aide of former president Asif Ali Zardari, has become approver in the fake accounts case. The prosecutor told court that the accused Nadeem Altaf has confessed to the crime before the magistrate. The court accepted his plea to become the approver and ordered to release him. Meanwhile, Nadeem Altaf has recorded his statement against Asif Zardari, Hussain Lawai, Bilal Sheikh and Tariq Ihsan. He confessed that he had benefitted the bank of Hussain Lawai through forgery. He said that he had met Hussain Lawai with Bilal Sheikh on May 2, 2016 and settled the method to benefit Summit Bank. “I provided the loans Hussain Lawai’s companies from Sindh Bank illegally,” he said. Nadeem Altaf said that he had given the loans of billions of rupees instead of declaring him defaulter. “The loans were approved by pressurizing me,” he said. He said that the plan was prepared by Bilal Sheikh.
