Fake bank accounts: NAB chief gets attested copy of court verdict

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Aftab Iqbal has received an attested copy of the court verdict in the fake accounts case. The NAB chairman has called a meeting to review the JIT report on Monday. Important decisions are likely in the meeting. The Supreme Court had referred the case to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), directing it to wrap up its investigation within two months. The court also ordered to remove the names of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Shah from the exit control list and the joint investigation team's report on a probe into the case. Several bigwigs, including former president Asif Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur, former president of Summit Bank Hussain Lawai and Omni Group's Anwar Majeed, were all nominated in the case. Property tycoon Malik Riaz and his son-in-law Zain have also been included in the probe. The detailed judgment authored by Justice Ejazul Hassan with regard to removal of the names of Bilawal Bhutto and Murad Ali Shah says: “But removing of the names will not prevent NAB to probe and in case sufficient material is found connecting these individuals with cognizable offences, it will not be precluded from making an appropriate request to the federal government to place their names on [the] ECL again or take any appropriate action provided by law.”
