LAHORE (92 News) - The fare system of public transport was disrupted after a hike in the prices of the POL products.

Transport owners have increased the fares manifold for Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and other cities.

The stop-to-stop fare on local routes has been increased from Rs30 to Rs50. Local transport owners have increased the fares by 70 to 80 percent, increasing the woes of the people.

On the other hand, goods transport owners have increased the fares by 30 percent. Keeping in view, goods transport drivers have called a meeting keeping in view the inflation.

Meanwhile, the Inter-City Bus Owners Association has rejected the increase in the prices of the POL products. The Pakistan Transport Council chairman said that a 20 percent increase in the fares is mandatory. "However, the increase will further destroy the business. In protest, we are parking our 50 percent transport."

He demanded that the government should withdraw the increase in the POL products.
