Farooq Sattar presents himself for arrest in news conference

KARACHI (92 News) – Following the arrest and release of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM) chief Farooq Sattar late on Friday, he addressed a news conference and said he would present himself for the arrest if necessary.

 

“We have implemented the minus-one formula. The case pertaining to August 22’s speech inciting party workers against the state should be discarded now,” he said.  

 

Sattar further said that MQM-Pakistan has rejected anti-Pakistan slogans and called for the party’s legitimate political right.

 

MQM-Pakistan leader Faisal Sabzwari speaking on the issue that Karachi’s peace lies in the effort made by the party on August 23 to detach itself from founder Altaf Hussain.

 

“We are democratic people, we don’t run. The political vultures should not consider MQM as a dead party.”

 

Rauf Siddiqui also condemned Sattar’s arrest, saying that the cases made against him are baseless.

 

The police arrested the MQM-Pakistan leader in two cases pertaining to the inflammatory speech made by MQM founder Altaf Hussain. Sattar was however released after one hour of detention.

 

Sattar was given a warm welcome as he reached PIB Colony after the release. The party workers raised slogans in favor of the MQM-Pakistan leader and captured selfies with him.
