ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Former prime minister Imran Khan has said that the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) had declared Pakistan's Action Plan as completed on the PTI government's report in April.

Reacting to the FATF decision in a tweet on Friday, he said: "Pakistan was nominated for grey listing by the FATF in February 2018 and had to complete the most challenging action plan ever given to any jurisdiction. When my government took over, we faced dire prospect of blacklisting by that body. Our past compliance history with FATF was also not favourable.

"The FATF repeatedly praised our work and the political will my government demonstrated. We not only averted blacklisting, but also completed 32 out of 34 action items. We submitted a compliance report on remaining two items in April based on which the FATF now declared Pak's Action Plan as completed.

"I am confident that prerequisite onsite visit of the FATF team to confirm completed work on our action plan will pass successfully too. Hammad Azhar, members of his FATF coordination committee and officers who worked on this task performed exceptionally well. The whole country is proud of you."

In a tweet, Hammad Azhar said Pakistan has today achieved a great landmark. "The FATF rated us compliant on all 34 action items. Only two action items were outstanding and based on compliance done during October-March period, they have been cleared too. All countries that exit grey list undergo onsite visit as per procedure."
