ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhary has rejected the impression of any stalemate between government and the opposition on the appointment of members of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

In his tweets on Tuesday, the minister said that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will seek opinion of the Opposition Leader on the issue in accordance with the Constitution.

He noted that a strong ECP, on which all political parties have confidence, is in the interest of Pakistan. He said PM Imran Khan has waged a struggle for a transparent system.

Fawad Chaudhary said the government also wants to move forward with an open heart on electoral reforms and NAB laws. "We want consensus in the parliament on all major issues," he added.

The minister said stability of the political system lies in the respect for constitution. He said consensus on elections, accountability and national security will give stability to the political system.

It is pertinent to mention here that two members of the ECP from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) retired upon completion of their service period.
