Fayyazul Hassan Chohan to re-join Punjab cabinet

LAHORE (92 News) – The Punjab government on Friday has decided to re-induct former provincial information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan in the provincial cabinet. According to the sources, Fayyazul Chohan will take oath as a minister in the today’s evening at the Governor House. Acting Punjab Governor Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will administer the oath to Fayyazul Hassan Chohan. On March 5, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan was removed from his post as Punjab Minister for Information and Culture following his controversial statement against the Hindu community. On the notice of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Fayyazul Chohan was asked to tender his resignation from his post over anti-Hindu remarks. Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to act swiftly on the process. Usman Buzdar summoned Fayyazul Hassan Chohan at the Punjab CM’s House and sought explanation on his remarks. “Such indecent statements against minorities are not acceptable”, PM Khan has reportedly said. The chief minister also asked him to tender his resignation. Earlier, Chohan has apologized for his anti-Hindu statement. In a statement, he said that he was addressing Indian PM Narendra Modi, Indian army and media in his statement. “My target was not the Hindu religion and Hindu community,” he said. The PTI government “will not tolerate this nonsense”, party leader Naeemul Haque said Monday night. “The derogatory and insulting remarks against the Hindu community by Fayyaz Chohan the Punjab Info Minister demand strict action. PTI govt will not tolerate this nonsense from a senior member of the govt or from anyone. Action will be taken after consulting the chief minister,” Haque, who is special assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan, said.
