FBR confiscates PML-N senator’s ‘benami’ 6,000 kanals in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has confiscated ‘benami’ 6,000 kanals of PML-N senator Ch Tanvir in Rawalpindi. The senator had purchased the property in the names of his employees. The FBR has issued notices to the employees, including Muhammad Basharat, Raja Abdul Shakoor, Shahjahan Begum, Muhammad Maroof, Azhar Ali and Abdul Hafeez, of Ch Tanvir. Moreover, the FBR has issued instructions to regional tax commissioners. The process of conducting raids on the properties of political and general public has been started. According to the FBR, as many as 83 cases of banami property have been traced. Final lists of the people who declared their properties under the amnesty scheme are being prepared. The comparative study of these lists can be viewed on the FBR portal. Raids on benami properties are being conducted in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan and Sargodha. In Sindh, action is being taken against such properties in Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana. So far raids have been conducted at 11 places with the cooperation of the Punjab Board of Revenue.
