ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to form a special team for investigations into the Justice Faez Isa case. Sources said that a strategy will be decided for investigations on Sunday. They added that the FBR has given the file name of “Begum Faez Isa Declaration Case’. The scope and protocols of investigations, according to the sources, will be decided. The final shape will be given to the names of the investigation team head and members. The income tax commissioner or regional tax commissioner can be appointed as the investigation team head. The experience of customs and intelligence has been mandatory for the incumbent officer. However, the candidates having the experience of money laundering, assets declaration will be given priority. A focal person will also be appointed for making contacts with different departments. On Friday, the Supreme Court (SC) had nullified the presidential reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa. A bench, comprising 10 judges, announced the short verdict and the show-cause notice issued to the judge by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has been declared null and void too. The case was wrapped up after Justice Isa's spouse provided the money trail pertaining to her foreign properties and the Federal Board of Revenue provided its input on the matter. The petitioner's lawyer, Munir A Malik, concluded his arguments in court by saying that the federation had "gotten on the wrong bus" in the case. In his arguments, Malik started by saying that he was unable to understand what the government’s case was. He said his client was accused of hiding the properties intentionally, on which Justice Bandial observed that the yesterday’s hearing reinforced the applicant’s stance as his stance was that the documents should first be obtained from Justice Faez’s wife.
