FBR’s policy board to be constituted soon, says finance minister

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Finance Asad Umar has said that tax collection will separated in the FBR as per the global practice. Speaking to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Asad Umar said that the policy board will soon be constituted in which businessmen will also be given representation. The finance minister said that a comprehensive policy will be evolved for tax reforms. He further said that the policy board will soon be constituted in which businessmen will also be given representation. Asad Umar said the business community will also be taken on board on tax reforms. “The economy is currently undergoing heart bypass surgery and after it is successfully completed, the economy will be back on track and running,” he said. He termed that the economy of Pakistan is being by-pass in current period. He mentioned that no issue is bigger than water in Islamabad. The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the new projects in Islamabad. Regarding ongoing talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Umar said, this is part of routine. He added that there is no plan to seek a bailout just yet. “However, if we need to approach IMF for a bailout then the talks that are taking place right now will be form the basis for it,” Umar further said.
