President Dr Arif Alvi approves ordinance for further amendment to Election Act

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – President Dr Arif Alvi on Saturday approved an ordinance for further amendment to the Election Act.

The amendment has been included in sections 81, 122 and 185 of the Election Act. The ordinance has been made conditional with the sub judice reference.

President Dr Arif Alvi has already filed a reference in the Supreme Court for open ballot in the Senate election.

Secret voting of the Senate election will be held under section 226 of the Constitution. Open ballot will be held if the Supreme Court declared the Senate election under the Election Act.

The ordinance has been named as Elections Amendment Ordinance 2021.

Earlier, the federal cabinet had approved the ordinance to hold the Senate election through open ballot.
