ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Federal Cabinet has on Thursday rejected the report presented in the Supreme Court by the Joint Investigation Team and endorsed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s firm decision not to step down while reposing full confidence on the leadership on him.

The meeting reviewed the political and legal strategy in the backdrop of an official investigation into corruption allegations against Nawaz Sharif and his family which found a significant disparity between their declared wealth and known sources of income.

During the meeting the prime minister said that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) bagged more votes in general elections than the aggregates of those demanding his resignation.

Nawaz Sharif said that he will not resign on the demand of a group of conspirators.

The PM reaffirmed that the journey of progress will not be allowed to derail as the country has already paid a huge price due to political crises in the past.

“The JIT report is a collection of assumptions and accusations about their personal business, adding that their family has not earned anything from politics,” he said.

The prime minister said projects worth billions of rupees are being executed but no evidence of any corruption has been found.
