Federal govt decides to include the Holy Quran in syllabus from Class I to XII

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The federal government has decided to include the Holy Quran in the syllabus from Class I to XII, making it mandatory to teach the Holy Quran in all schools and colleges. Students will be taught the recitation (Nazira) of the Holy Quran from Class I to VI, while recitation with translation will be taught from Class VII to XII. There will be a special 15-minute period for the Holy Quran in all schools and colleges. State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Balighur Rahman said that the decision will be implemented after getting opinion of the provinces. He said that the syllabus containing verses of the Holy Quran with translation had been sent to provinces for their opinion. He said that he had also consulted and presented the syllabus to the members of the Islamic Ideology Council (ICC). He said that the verses containing incidents will be taught from Class VII to X, while the verses containing orders will be taught from Class X to XII.
