Federal govt decides to introduce constitutional amendment for open voting in Senate election

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – To make the Senate election transparent, the federal government has decided to introduce a constitutional amendment needed for open voting.

The federal cabinet has granted approval in this regard.

The government has directed the legal team to prepare a constitutional amendment bill. The prime minister has taken the party parliamentarians into confidence in this regard.

Sources said that the constitutional amendment would be brought during the present or next session of the assembly. The government will also discuss the matter with the opposition.

Sources said that the PPP and the PML-N had already agreed on open voting in the Charter of Democracy.
