KARACHI (92 News) – Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that the federal government is ready to work with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for public welfare. Addressing a press conference with Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Wednesday, he said that the PPP roots among the masses had weakened. “Work would have been expedited had the Karachi mayor powerful,” he said. The minister said that the objective of today’s visit was to monitor the projects started by the federal government in Karachi. “Efforts will be made to expedite the Green Line project,” he said. He announced that Prime Minister Imran Khan would visit Karachi in the first week of February and inaugurate the uplift projects. “Karachi is facing an acute shortage of drinking water.” Asad Umar stressed the need for expediting the development process. “We will have to work within limited resources. It is difficult to work for the private sector without participation of the government,” he said. He said that the PTI would give the Karachiites a modern transport system. Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that Asad Umar had been briefed about Rs162 billion projects during a meeting of the Sindh Infrastructure Restoration Committee. Karachi Mayor Muhammad Waseem, Firdous Shamim Naqvi and Muhammad Hussain also attended the meeting.
