Funeral prayers offered for Federal Minister Ali Muhammad Mahar

GHOTKI (92 News) – Funeral prayers of deceased Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) member of National Assembly and Federal Minister of Anti-Narcotics were offered here in his native village on Tuesday.

The funeral prayer was attended by a large number of relatives, politicians, civil servants and locals.

Earlier today, Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar dies of cardiac arrest. The PTI lawmaker had died of longstanding liver disease.

The entire city has been closed down to mourn the sad demise of their local leader and peoples have started reaching to the Mahar house for condolences.

 He served as the 25th Chief Minister of Sindh from 2002 to 2004.

He was a member of the National Assembly from 2008 and May 2018 and a member of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh from 2002 to 2007.

He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan as an independent candidate from Constituency NA-201 (Ghotki-II) in the 2002 general elections. He received 77,950 votes and defeated Gulam Rasool Kalhoro, a candidate of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA). In the same election, he was elected to the Provincial Assembly of Sindh as an independent candidate from Constituency PS-6 (Ghotki-II). He received 23,667 votes and defeated Ahsanullah Khan Sundrani, a candidate of National Alliance.

On September 11, 2018, he was inducted into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan and given the portfolio of Federal Minister for Narcotics Control.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed heartfelt condolences over the sad demise of Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar.
