FIA exposes 2,000 ghost employees of KMC's Education Department; directors among nine officers held

KARACHI (92 News) – FIA Director General Shahid Hayat has said that an amount of Rs 30 million is misappropriated every month under the head of 2,000 ghost employees of the Karachi Municipal Corporation’s Education Department. Addressing a press conference on Saturday, he said that 64-year-old mother-in-law of an officer used to get salary while remaining at home. He said that nine officers, including directors, had been arrested. “The money issued in the name of ghost employees is distributed among high-ranking officials,” he maintained. Shahid Hayat disclosed that the case would be interrogated under the Anti Money Laundering Act. He said that the aspect of financial assistance of terrorism will also be investigated in the case. He disclosed that a director and three assistant directors will also be arrested soon. 92 News had exposed the ghost employees of Karachi Municipal Corporation on February 6.
