FIA official arrested for molesting foreigner at Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – An assistant director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was arrested on the charge of harassing foreigners at the Islamabad airport after Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar took notice of the issue on Friday.

As per details, two Afghan women were stopped by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials after they reach Benazir International Airport in Islamabad for not having documents to stay in a hotel.

According to the women, they were kept in a room for around five hours after which one of them was sent outside the room. Later, the accused entered the room and attempted an assault but she managed to flee from the scene after raising an alarm.

The woman further stated in her application that other FIA personnel were also among the officer who were standing outside the room.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar took notice of the incident and ordered to suspend FIA Assistant Director Immigration Akram Ali Shad and launched in investigation into the incident.

The Airport Security Force (ASF) arrested the FIA assistant director.
