Final decision about talks with banned TTP will be made with approval of parliament as per constitution: NSC

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) at PM House on Wednesday.

National and political leadership, lawmakers and military leadership attended the meeting.

The meeting was briefed about the overall security situation as well as steps taken to deal with the dangers being faced by the country at the internal and external levels.

The meeting was also apprised about the administrative affairs at the Afghanistan border. It was informed that Pakistan has played responsible and positive role for peace and stability in Afghanistan and will continue its constructive role in this regard. It was hoped that Afghanistan will not allow anyone to use its soil against Pakistan.

The meeting declared that the world had acknowledged Pakistan's efforts and sacrifices in the war against terror.

The participants were also informed about the details of the talks with the banned TTP and the sessions held in this regard. It was told that a committee comprising of civil and military representatives is holding talks with the banned TTP as per constitution of the country. The final decision will be made with the approval of the parliament in the light of the constitution, guidance provided for future and consensus.
