Final negotiations between govt, FATF begin

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Final negotiations between the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the government began on Monday (today). According to the details, the FATF delegation reached yesterday night in Islamabad on the visit from October 7 to 9 to negotiate exclusion of Pakistan from Gray list. The FATF delegation will meet officials of the ministries of finance and interior, the financial monitoring unit, and the state bank. The sources said that the administrative and legal measures taken by Pakistan to stop the monetary assistance of terrorists will also be reviewed by the foreign team. The foreign team is also likely to hold meetings with officials of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and law enforcement agencies. The measures taken by SECP, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) will be discussed. After the visit of FATF delegation, the team will also recommend exclusion of Pakistan’s name from Gray list or inclusion on the Black list. On the other hand, SECP also has completed paper work to stop monetary assistance of terrorists and the money laundering. A report, prepared by SECP, regarding measures taken by the government to curtail the financial assistance of terrorists will be presented in a meeting of the FATF.
