ISLAMABAD (92 News) Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced abolishing six ministries and 150,000 vacant posts of the federal government.
While talking to the media in Islamabad, Muhammad Aurangzeb said that eliminating 150,000 vacant posts will make a clear difference in the federal government's expenses.
“The implementation of eliminating six federal ministries is in progress,” he added.
He said that the standby agreement of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been completed successfully. “Now economic stability will come. All this has happened due to the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The former caretaker government also has a positive role in it.”
The federal minister said that the purpose of going to the IMF was to achieve economic stability and complete ongoing projects.
He added that macroeconomic stability is the path, not the destination. “I won’t talk about the stock exchange, but it is good that it is now crossing new boundaries.”
The finance minister said, “We are hopeful that the exchange rate and the policy rate will remain as per our expectations. Two federal ministries are being merged. One has been decided to be abolished.”
He also informed the media about the government’s decision to abolish six ministries, adding the confidence of investors is a big success for the strength of the economy.
The finance minister also said that human interference in the tax system is to be eliminated in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
He pointed out it is necessary to protect human rights for tax collection, adding, “We have all kinds of data that we will use.”
He also said that currently, only 14 percent of retailers were registered for sales tax, adding the government will be forced to block utility services to unregistered people.
