ISLAMABAD (92 News) - Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has once again proposed the Charter of Economy, saying that the government is taking steps to increase exports and stabilize the economy.

Addressing a ceremony on Wednesday, he said that several countries had increased the tax rate due to the coronavirus pandemic. "We have no option except to increase the rates from tax to GDP," he added.

The minister said that Pakistan like the world will have to separate politics from economy. "We will have to stop the increase in the dollar price due to rumours. Debts can be repaid after reducing the administrative expenditures. However, a decrease cannot be made by reducing the security expenditures," he maintained.

Ishaq Dar admitted that the smugglers and Hundi mafia had made the economy hostage. "We have started the operation against the smuggling of urea and dollar

He also informed that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had sought the details of the expenditures incurred on the rehabilitation of the floods.

He, however, did not respond to the queries about former finance minister Miftah Ismail.
