Finance ministry has nothing to do with JIT: Ishaq Dar

WASHINGTON (92 News) – Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has on Wednesday said that the finance ministry has nothing to do with the formation of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) relating to the Panama leaks.

Addressing a press conference in Washington after meeting the officials of International Monetary Fund and World Bank, he said that State Bank and Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) are independent institutions, adding that they won’t finalize the name of any member for the JIT.

Dar said that investigation must be conducted as to how the Dawn leaks report was leaked.

Commenting on the Islamic military alliance, the minister said that former Chief of Army Staff General (r) Raheel Sharif is now retired and independent.

Talking to about the energy crisis, Dar said that the government is working on 25,000 megawatt project, adding that 10,000 megawatt electricity will be included in the system in their tenure.

He expressed the hope that GDP growth over five percent will be achieved during the current fiscal year. “Pakistan is making an impressive headway in financial & digital inclusion,” Ishaq Dar said.

The minister also expressed confidence that seven percent GDP growth will be achieved in the next year.
