Finance Ministry releases Rs17.4 billion to ECP for elections

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Finance Ministry has released Rs17.4 billion to the Election Commission of Pakistan in addition to Rs 10.0 billion released in July 2023 for the conduct of general elections in the country.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, this amount brings the total released amount to Rs. 27.4 billion for holding general elections.

It stated that the Finance Ministry remains committed to provision of funds as and when required by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The former government had allocated Rs42 billion for the general elections. On Monday, the ECP had summoned the Finance secretary for delay in the issuance of the funds.
