VEHARI (92 News) – A first information report (FIR) lodged and eight policemen were arrested after they were accused of torturing a elderly woman in their custody in Vehari’s Ladan. According to the details garnered, Zahooran Bibi, a resident of Luddan, was tortured by the suspects CIA SI Amjad Khan, CIA ASI Muhammad Younas and TSI Muhammad Tahir and others. A FIR was also registered against 13 policemen under sections 354, 337K, 342 and 155C of the Pakistan Penal Code on the direction of the RPO. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and RPO Vehari took the notice after surfacing the video on social media.  An elderly woman, who was subjected to police torture, received a senior police officer at home on late Saturday to get assurance of justice at doorstep. Zahooran Bibi, a resident of Luddan, was attacked by three policemen. After the Punjab chief minister took notice of the incident, Regional Police Officer Multan Waseem Ahmad Sial reached the woman’s home, inquired after her and assured her to provide justice. Speaking on the occasion, the police officer said a case had been registered against three policemen who were also booked in a case. He said police would be arresting the suspects soon to deliver justice to the affected poor woman. The 50-year-old woman, Zahuran Elahi, was working as a maid for a man named Ayaz Daulatana. She was handed over to the police by her employer, who accused her of stealing gold from his house. Her medical reports showed bruises, swelling and torture marks on her body, doctors at DHQ Hospital confirmed. The Multan RPO had taken notice of the torturing incident and suspended the three officers on Saturday.
