Fire in three factories in Karachi brought under control after 18 hours

KARACHI (92 News) – A massive fire in the three factories of Landhi Export Processing Zone in Karachi has been brought under control after 18 hours and cooling process is underway. According to the details garnered, a fire broke out at two cardboard factories and one plastic factory in Karachi’s Landhi area Sunday night which spread quickly and engulfed nearby plastic and textile factories. Fire tenders were immediately called in to extinguish the blaze at the factories located in the Karachi Export Processing Zone. At least 10 fire tenders and one snorkel took part in the operation of extinguishing the blaze. In the rescue operation, the Rangers and Pak Navy teams also took part with the rescue officials. After the efforts, fire is put out after 18 hours. After getting information about the incident, an emergency was imposed at the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board hydrants in Landhi and Safoora Goth after the blaze erupted. Fifteen water tankers were sent to the site immediately. According to rescue officials, the fire erupted due to a short circuit in one of the buildings. “Due to the blaze, the buildings have gotten weak and might fall,” a rescue officer said. He added that it will take six to eight more hours to completely put out the fire. Firefighters were still busy putting out the blaze. No loss of life has yet been reported. On theother hand, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and has summoned a detailed report of it.
