ISLAMABAD (92 News) China has started cargo flights to Islamabad for the first time, and the first cargo flight from Urumqi landed in Pakistan’s capital Saturday carrying more than 25 tonnes of goods.
Chief Operating Officer and Airport Manager Aftab Gilani welcomed the Chinese delegation at the Islamabad International Airport.
Aftab Gilani said that two cargo flights will be operated weekly, adding that the number of flights will increase further.
He said that Pakistan and China have close relations, and the start of cargo service will promote trade between the two countries.
He added that after the start of cargo flights, the revenue of the Pakistan Airport Authority will also increase significantly along with the increase in cargo throughput charges.
