LAHORE (92 News) – The first coronavirus patient surfaced in Punjab as Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Sunday confirmed the first positive case of coronavirus in Lahore. According to Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, a 54-year-old man, who arrived in Lahore from UK on March 10, has contracted the viral disease. She also mentioned that relatives of the patient have tested negative. She urged people to take precautionary measures and said only way to fight coronavirus is to take precautions. It is pertinent to mention here that a private laboratory that conducted the tests for the diagnosis declared the individual as infected. Dr Yasmin Rashid said that the patient’s blood samples have been sent for further testing while the individual has been kept in quarantined isolation. Earlier, an extraordinary situation developed as the coronavirus prevention measures has been accelerated across the country. The first meeting of the National Coordination Committee chaired by Special Assistant on Health Dr Zafar Mirza reviewed the measurements to prevent spread of coronavirus Same like the world, Pakistan is also dealing with the deadly virus; three new cases of croronvirus have surfaced. Two more cases of the novel coronavirus were reported in Sindh night taking the provincial total to 17. Following these two cases, the national tally of the global pandemic has increased to 29. First case of human-to-human transmission of coronavirus was reported in Pakistan; a new case of corona patient in Sindh did not travel abroad. The father of the victim came from Europe a few days ago. Four patients of coronavirus also have been recovered in Pakistan. The Pak-Afghan border is closed on the 13th day, while the Pakistan’s Taftan border with Iran is closed for 22 days and five airports are closed for foreign flights. Meanwhile, all educational institutions, hostels, madrassas, wedding halls and cinema houses are also closed; all kinds of examinations have been postponed. Sindh government’s decision to implement measures to prevent coronavirus has also surfaced. Anyone who violates the order of closing the wedding halls, cinema halls and public gatherings will be detained for 30 days. On the other hand, the OPD of Lady Reading Hospital (LHR) Peshawar was also closed due to the coronavirus. The LRH spokesman said that the decision was made to prevent the coronavirus. The emergency of hospital will be opened for day and night.
