First winter rainfall in Lahore adds to the chill in city

LAHORE (92 News) – First winter rainfall in Lahore added to the chill in the air and weather completely turned into cold on early Friday. According to the details garnered, Lahore and adjoining areas received the first winter rain increasing chill to the pleasure of residents. The rainfall was accompanied by strong winds forcing motorcyclists and pedestrians to run for cover. Kalma Chowk, Gulberg, Jail Road, Mall Road and many other cities received heavy rain. Meanwhile, rain and hailstorm have turned weather cold in parts of Pakistan including Islamabad, Lahore Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Azad Kashmir. Heavy downpour lashed Kot Momin, Toba Tek Singh, Safdarabad, Pindi Bhattian, Nowshera, Risalpur, Swabi, Malakand, Muzaffarabad and Mirpur on Thursday night and Friday morning. It hailed in Attock, Pindigheb, Mardan, Karak and adjacent areas. The Met Office has predicted that the westerly wave which is affecting upper parts of the country is likely to persist till Saturday. Furthermore, snowfall is forecasted in the mountain areas.

Islamabad: Rain wind-thunderstorm is expected in Islamabad. Balochistan: Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the province. Dry and cold weather is expected in upper and central Balochistan including Quetta during night. Punjab: Rain wind-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Murree, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Khushab, Bhakkar, Sialkot, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, M B Din, Narowal, Hafizabad, Layyah, Nankana, Kasur, Lahore, Jhang, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujrat districts. Sindh: Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the province. KP: Rain wind-Thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Chitral, Malakand, Shangla, Swabi, Swat, Dir, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Peshawar, Hangu, Kohat, Parachinar districts. Gilgit-Baltistan: Rain-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan. Azad Kashmir: Rain-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in all districts of Azad Kashmir. Earlier in the month of September, rain choked Karachi as roads were flooded and traffic came to a standstill. The people were stuck for almost six hours near Brookes Chowrangi after the EBM Causeway was flooded following heavy rains yesterday. Once again incompetency of local bodies in Karachi, the mercury has become trouble for the citizens. No drainage system for rainwater at Korangi, Landhi and Qayyamabad.
