KARACHI (92 News) – An anti-terrorism court handed over Fishermen Cooperative Society Acting Chairman Sultan Qamar Siddiqui to Rangers for 90 days. He was arrested by army and intelligence agencies on the charge of smuggling weapons and mega corruption. The sensitive agencies had started investigations into corruption by Fishermen Cooperative Society Chairman Nisar Morai, vice-chairman Sultan Qamar Siddiqui and Hameed Bhutto on the letters written by representatives of fishermen. Sources revealed that the corrupt mafia was misappropriating 2.5 percent commission on chits instead of 6.25 percent on the sale of fish. About fish amounting to Rs 220 million is daily sold from Karachi Fish Harbour and others and Rs 10.25 million should be deposited into the national exchequer. But the corrupt mafia is devouring Rs five million daily through fake chits. Directors Muhammad Khan Chachar and Rana Shahid have also been arrested. Meanwhile, Muhammad Ali Sheikh, former provincial minister and right-hand man of an influential personality of Sindh, has been arrested. He has been arrested on the charge of transferring money abroad and irregularities in lands.
