MIRPUR MATHELO (92 News) – Railway traffic remained suspended on railway down track after five bogies of a freight train derailed at Mirpur Mathelo area of Ghotki on Monday. According to the sources, the loaded goods train was going to Karachi from Sahiwal. The incident took place near the Phatak Kalhora when the train reached there, five bogies suddenly derailed with a heavy sound. However, the railway traffic was suspended on the down track. Karachi bound freight train derailment caused suspension of railway traffic on the down track, officials said. Various trains running to Karachi were stopped at Daharki and Sadiqabad railway stations, sources said. The derailment incident has caused damage to the bogies and railway track, railway department sources said. The work of restoration of the track and the railway traffic will be started after the heavy machinery from Rohri will reach at the place of the incident to remove five bogies derailed. The work to remove derailed bogies from the place of the accident and restoration of the track will be completed by Tuesday evening, railway authorities said. The trains stopped due to the mishap being sent from another track to their destination, officials said. It is pertinent to mention here that dilapidated railway tracks, faulty signal systems and heavy loads are among the main reasons behind the railway accidents in the country. Earlier, ten bogies of Khushhal Khan Khattak Express derailed near Sehwan in Sindh on Thursday morning. Khushhal Khan Khattak Express was travelling from Karachi to Peshawar when the accident happened. No loss of life reported in the incident while ten persons injured during the incident. The injured were shifted to the nearby hospital. The rescue teams and Pakistan Railways officials reached the spot after the mishap. The pace of rescue operation is very slow due to the lack of administration staff.
