Five more fell prey to knife attacks, Bilawal wants culprits’ arrest

KARACHI (92 News) – Five more women injured in new knife attacks in Karachi in the wee hours of Thursday, which occurred over a span of several hours. According to reports, a man wearing a helmet has been attacking women with a knife while driving his motorbike. The mystery man seems to attack women who are walking alone and he speeds past immediately after striking them. As per details, the attacks occurred in Gulshan-e-Jamal, Neepa Chorangi, Urdu College, Gulsha Welfare Society and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The attacker targeted five women within three hours. In the first attack, a woman namely Sonia Naz was the latest victim of the attacker in Rashid Minhsa Road near Gulshan-e-Jamal. The second incident took place in Neepa Chorangi where a girl namely Areesha was attacked. The father of the victim said that the government should ban education of girls if it cannot provide protection. The third attack took place in front of Urdu College where a girl namely Naureen was attacked, while 13-year-old Laiba was the fourth target of the attacker. The assailant stabbed a girl namely Chirstina in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Chorangi area. As many as 12 women have so far become victims of knife attacks in Karachi during the last one and a half week, spreading fear and panic in the city. On the other hand, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the attacks and ordered the concerned authorities to arrest the culprit and punish him. The Sindh CM also raised question on the performance of the police in the city. The recent string of knife attacks in Karachi has police there scrambling to find the guilty man before he hurts more women. Meanwhile, young women are on edge in Pakistan’s most populous city, and police are advising them to be very careful while on the city’s streets. Police have launched a manhunt for the assailant in the knife attacks in Karachi and are trying to piece together evidence that will point to the man’s identity and a motive for the attacks. Police have even offered a reward of Rs 500,000 for information which leads to the arrest of the guilty man. So far, investigators believe that the man responsible for the knife attacks in Karachi is mentally ill, and they describe him as thin and between the ages of 20 and 29.
