SUKKUR (92 News) – Five killed and 15 injured after a three-storey building collapsed suddenly at Station Road in Sukkur. More than a dozen people trapped after a three-storey building collapsed in Sukkur. It is pertinent to mention here that the building, located on Sukkur’s busy Station Road, was constructed above a few shops and housed 4-5 families. According to the rescue officials, woman and child bodies among many injured were recovered from the rubble and were shifted to Sukkur's Civil Hospital for first aid. It also said that several people were feared buried under the debris. The rescue teams reached the spot and started an operation to scour the giant rubble heap for survivors. Nine injured were recovered from the rubble along with a child alive and shifted to the hospital. However, Pakistan Army personnel are also included in the rescue operation. It was also reported that at least 15 to 17 people are still feared to be trapped under the rubble. A crane has been called to lift the debris from the site. Police, Rangers and fire brigadier teams are present on the occasion and Pakistan Army was also summoned. There were four shops underneath the collapsed building. The four brother’s families were residing in the lower ground of the house. While rescue efforts are ongoing, authorities are yet to ascertain how many people were present in the building at the time of the collapse. Rescuers faced difficulties after the building collapse caused a power blackout in the area.
