Five killed in Lahore rain-related incidents

LAHORE (92 News) – At least four persons were killed and several others injured in rain-related incidents here on Wednesday.

In Lahore, a man namely Khalil was killed and two others injured when the roof of a warehouse collapsed in Maragzar Colony area, while a woman and her son sustained injured when the roof of their house caved in.

The injured people were shifted to local hospital for medical assistance.

In Toba Tek Singh, three persons including a woman were killed when the roof of their house collapsed.

The dead people were identified as Nusrat, 85, Aslam, 55 and Allah Dita, 55.

A youth was electrocuted while trying to switch on the electric motor in Renala Khurd.

On the other hand, dust-thunderstorm/rain with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions, FATA, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir today, while at isolated places in D.G. Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Quetta, Zhob divisions. However, hot and dry weather is likely to prevail elsewhere in the country.  

According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist during next 2 days.

Meanwhile, the metrological department has predicted torrential rains in the next 48-hours in Gilgit Baltistan.

The District Disaster Management Authority Gilgit asked people to avoid travel in landslides and floods prone areas in Gilgit to avoid any losses.
