Flood ravages infrastructure in Balochistan, death toll rises to 136

QUETTA (92 News) - Flood ravaged the infrastructure in the entire province, forcing people to lead a miserable life.

The death toll due to the flood has risen to 136, while 13,535 houses have been completely destroyed. In all, 16 bridges collapsed at different places and over 23,000 cattle head have been killed.

Meanwhile, crops over lacs of acres have also been destroyed, imperiling famine in the areas in future.

On the other hand, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the district administration, the Pak Army and Pak Navy are continuing relief activities in the affected areas. The flood-hit people have been provided with readymade food, ration and other necessary items. The government has extended the summer vacation in the province till August 14.

Floodwater washed away hundreds of houses in different areas of Southern Punjab, including Rojhan, Taunsa and Dera Ghazi Khan. Several localities have been annihilated by the floods. In Safdarabad, rainwater is visible everywhere in the area.

People are facing an acute shortage of food in the flood-hit areas and waiting for the government help. According to the PDMA, 85 people have been killed in different accidents. In all, 10,800 houses have been damaged by the floods. The relief camps have been activated in different areas.
