FM discuss HR violations in IoK with South Korean, Saudi counterparts

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi discussed human rights (HR) violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) with South Korean FM Kang Kyung-wha and his Saudi counterpart Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al-Assaf. Shah Mehmood Qureshi telephoned South Korean and his Saudi counterpart and apprised them about the latest situation in IoK. FM Qureshi said that the international community will have to play its role to get stopped Indian atrocities in IoK. He said the world media is continuously bringing to fore the Indian oppression. The foreign minister said the human rights organizations have already expressed their fears of massacre of Kashmiri people. He said the people in occupied Kashmir are faced with shortages of food and medicines due to curfew. He said the Indian forces barge into the houses and are detaining the Kashmiri youth. The South Korean foreign minister has voiced concerns over human rights violations in Indian held Jammu Kashmir. She expressed the sentiments during her conversation with the minister. The South Korean FM said her country is keeping a close eye on developments in the region. She said breach of human rights is a serious issue which needs to be addressed. During the telephonic conversations, Ibrahim Abdulaziz has also expressed concerns over human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Kashmir. Earlier, FM Qureshi phoned New Zealand Deputy New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters and Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov Maharram Oglu to apprise them of gross human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and the deteriorating security situation in the region. The foreign minister told the New Zealand deputy prime minister that India had abolished special status of Occupied Kashmir through a unilateral step on August 5 in contravention to the UN Security Council resolutions on the issue. He said that India wanted to change demography of Occupied Kashmir through repressive tactics. He asked the New Zealand deputy prime minister to force India to lift the curfew immediately. Expressing concern over the situation in Occupied Kashmir, the New Zealand deputy prime minister said they are closely observing the situation. He said that New Zealand is also receiving information about Occupied Kashmir from the Kashmiri community in New Zealand, and his country will continue playing its positive role in this regard. The Azerbaijan foreign minister reiterated Azerbaijan’s consistent position regarding peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute according to the norms and principles of international law and the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
