FM Qureshi calls on India to withdraw new citizenship law

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi called on India to withdraw new citizenship law on Monday. Speaking to the floor of National Assembly, the minister expressed concern on India‘s controversial new citizenship law, which excludes Muslims and targeted at curbing of minorities. Shah Mehmood Qureshi demanded Indian to close the brutalities against the many minorities. “Indian states rejected the new controversial law as well as the institution of UN also dismissed this controversial law,” he added.
FM urges US to ban Indian officials
The foreign minister urged the US to ban Indian officials including Indian Home Minister Amit Shah. He said that the controversial law gave rise to a constitutional crisis in India. “The real face of Modi has been exposed infront of the entire world while few have still chosen to close their eyes,” he maintained. He further assured that they always have, and will stand with Indian Muslims.
Qureshi slams India over brutal attack on students
FM Qureshi also slammed India over brutal attack on unarmed Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia students protesting against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The foreign minister has said the Indian police baton-charged the protesting students and fired tear gas, leaving six dead and scores injured. “The Modi government continues to curb and undermine the rights of minorities in accordance with Hindutva Supremacist ideology,” he added. “Illegal annexation of Kashmir, Babari Masjid, Citizenship Amendment Bill which excludes Muslims are all targeted towards the subjugation of minorities,” he explained.
Qureshi demands journalists to visit Occupied Kashmir
Commenting over Kashmir’s situation, Shah Mehmood Qrueshi said held valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu and Ladakh regions continued to remain grim on the 132nd consecutive day. He said the ban on internet service and mobile connections is still in place in held valley, adding Modi-led Indian government not allowing human rights observers and journalists to visit Occupied Kashmir.
NA approves resolution against India new citizenship law
The National Assembly unanimously approved a resolution against India’s new citizenship law, calling it a violation of human rights, international laws and discriminatory against Muslims. The resolution urged the international community to exert pressure over India to ensure the rights of minorities in general and protect the rights of Muslims in particular. The NA also demanded of the world to take notice of the discriminatory bill against Muslims and help end violence against the minorities and the Muslim students in India.
