FM Qureshi discusses regional situation with his Indian counterpart

BISHKEK (92 News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held an informal meeting with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj after the Foreign Ministers Council of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting in Bishkek today (Wednesday). They discussed overall situation of the region in the meeting. Speaking after the informal meeting, Qureshi said he cleared it to Swaraj that Pakistan wants resolution of all issues [with India] through consultation. “Prime Minister Imran Khan had noted in his first speech that if India takes one step forward, we will take two steps,” he noted, adding, “We are ready for a dialogue even today.”
Pakistan gave message of peace by opening Kartarpur corridor: FM
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan gave the message of peace by opening the Kartarpur corridor for the Sikh community. Addressing SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting on Wednesday, he said: “We have practically reinforced the Shanghai spirit through Kartarpur corridor.” He said that terrorism is a serious threat to the countries of the region. “Pakistan supports the peace process comprising of Afghans,” he said. The minister said that peace in Afghanistan is vital for regional peace and stability. He called for collective efforts among the SCO member countries to meet the present day challenges and achieve sustainable development. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the SCO serves as an important platform for links amongst the regional countries. “Pakistan is determined to implement the Charter of the SCO.” Referring to the geo strategic location of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Project will help further promote links in the region. Condemning terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, the foreign minister stressed the need for addressing root causes of the curse. He said Pakistan is among the few countries which successfully countered terrorism. He said that Pakistan is ready to share its experience and expertise with the SCO friends to deal with terrorism.
