FM Qureshi says Commander Jadhav’s verdict is a victory for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the International Court of Justice’s verdict in the case of Indian terrorist Kulbhushan Jadhav is a victory for Pakistan. In a statement on Wednesday, he said that the ICJ verdict is a confession of Pakistan’s solidarity and autonomy. “Importance should be given to the 2008 Agreement. An Indian spy cannot be given the consular access,” he said. He said that Pakistan had not given the consular access to Kulbhushan as it considers a spy does not deserve it. The foreign minister said that Indian stance about Kulbhushan’s innocence had been rejected. “India had requested the court to repeal the allegations against Kulbhushan Jadhav. But the court rejected the Indian stance,” he declared. He said that the verdict is a confession of Pakistan’s stance of spying by Kulbhushan. “It has been written in the verdict that Pakistan should decide whether it wants to file a review petition or not,” he said. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Jadhav could have filed an appeal against the verdict of the military court. “What India gained by moving to the ICJ?” he questioned. He said that the ICJ had not annulled the verdict of the military court. “The Indian in-service naval office was travelling under a pseudo name. The Army Act is clear in this regard,” he said. Qureshi said that Commander Jadhav’s verdict is appropriate. “Pakistan is a responsible country and has always adopted responsible attitude,” he said. “Pakistan moved the court in a short time and Allah Almighty bestowed us with the victory.” Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan respects the ICJ verdict and would follow the law. “We have already respected the law and devise the strategy within the ambit of the law,” he said.
