FM Qureshi says lockdown is not solution of COVID-19

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the lockdown is not solution of coronavirus (COVID-19). Addressing to the session of Senate on Tuesday which is holding discussion on the situation arising out of COVID-19, the foreign minister said that the solution to end coronavirus is not lockdown but effective vaccine which no one knows till when it will be prepared. “Prime Minister Imran Khan never pronounced that the imposition of lockdown was enforced by the elite class,” Shah Mehmood Qureshi also mentioned.
FM expresses optimism to collectively surmount COVID-19 challenge
The minister also expressed the optimism to collectively surmount the challenge posed by COVID-19. He said the national strategy against the contagion has been chalked out after taking inputs from all the federating units. He said it is a national emergency and all the stakeholders will have to work collectively to defeat the virus which has engulfed the whole world.
PM daily holds meetings to cope with current situation
The minister said the National Coordination Committee and National Command and Operation Center have been established to accommodate the inputs of the provinces. He said the Prime Minister daily holds meetings and give directions to cope with the current situation. He asked the opposition parties not to do politics on the pandemic.
Govt to protect people from coronavirus, poverty & starvation
“We have to protect the people from coronavirus, poverty and starvation.  He said it will take time to flatten the curve of the virus. In this background, the question arises as to whether the country can sustain a prolonged lockdown. He said despite difficult economic situation, the government has given a stimulus package of 1.2 trillion rupees.
12mln deserving families being provided with cash assistance
FM Qureshi said under expanded Ehsaas Program, 12 million deserving families are being provided with cash assistance. He said the funds in the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund will be used to support those who lost jobs due to the lockdown.
Hate mongering campaign started against Muslims in India
Alluding to the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK), FM Qureshi said the situation is very serious there. He said BJP government has intensified its persecution campaign in the occupied territory as under the garb of coronavirus, the occupying Indian forces have started barging into houses and killing the innocent and armless Kashmiri people. He further said that a hate mongering campaign has also been started against Muslims in India.
