FM Qureshi phones Iranian, Saudi, Turkish & UAE counterparts amid rising Mideast tension

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Following the recent escalation of tension between US and Iran, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday phoned his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Iran, UAE and Turkey. During the telephonic conversations, there was wide-ranging exchange of views on the unfolding situation in the region.  Highlighting Pakistan’s deep concern over the recent developments, the foreign minister underscored the imperative of avoidance of conflict, exercise of maximum restraint, and de-escalation of tensions. Sharing Pakistan's perspective, he expressed the hope that the progress made in Afghan peace process would be preserved and further advanced. Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan's readiness to continue to play its role in preventing further escalation and maintaining regional peace and stability.
