FM says Pakistan is ready for peace with India but it has right to defend

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Foreign Affairs (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan is ready for peace with India but at the same time it is fully prepared for its defence. Addressing All Pakistan Chambers of Commerce, he said Pakistan has given positive signals to India for restoring peace in the region including sending the high commissioner back to New Delhi and restoring weekly contact at the military operations directorates’ level. FM once again offers India to work together for peace FM Qureshi has once again offered India to come forward and work together for peace and stability in the region. He said Pakistan wants peace in the region and has taken several steps in this regard. The Foreign Minister said Pakistan has informed the world countries, including P5, about the Indian hostility. PM clearly says Pakistan to retaliate if India violates its airspace Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Prime Minister Imran Khan has clearly said that Pakistan will retaliate if India violates its airspace. He also said Pakistan befittingly responded to Indian aggression as we were aware of New Delhi's misadventure due to coming general election in their country. He said two Indian aircraft were shot down by Pakistan Air Force. FM Qureshi said that the government of Bharatiya Janata Party in India believes that good relations with Pakistan may lead to their defeat in the general election. He commended the role of China, Turkey, Russia and the United States in defusing the tension between the two countries in the post-Pulwama incident. “China is our friend and we seek each other’s advice on any emerging situation,” he maintained.
US, other countries played role in reducing Pak-India tension: FM
Earlier, FM Qureshi has said that the United States and other countries played a role for reducing Pak-India tension. He said that the de-escalation of tension is a positive development. “We have decided to send the Pakistan high commissioner back to New Delhi to increase diplomatic efforts,” he said. The minister said that China has asked Pakistan and India to resolve the issue through dialogues. “Pakistan is ready to engage with India for any dialogue to end the ongoing conflict as it always wants peace in the region.” He said that Pakistan desires to sort out all issues with India which are hindering peace between the two countries. “It is time to end all our conflicts and move towards peace,” he added. FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that India is misguiding its public and now Indian people are not accepting Narendra Modi’s anti-Pakistan agenda. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Indian students in Mumbai and Oxford are protesting for peace in the region. He said that all the Indian designs against Pakistan went in vain as the world has totally rejected the Indian stance.The minister said consequent to the government’s efforts and effective diplomacy, the perception about Pakistan is changed in the United States. To a question, he said a Pakistani delegation will visit New Delhi to sort out modalities in connection with Kartarpur Corridor.
