FM says world knows Pakistan stands for peace in region

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Minister for Foreign Affairs (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi termed on Monday that the world has witnessed that Pakistan stands for peace in the region. An important consultative meeting chaired by the foreign minister was held in Islamabad on Monday. During the meeting, important diplomatic issues including Pak-India escalation came under discussion.

On the occasion, FM Qureshi said the world has witnessed that Pakistan stands for peace. He said the OIC resolution condemning Indian brutalities on Kashmiris is a welcoming development. Participants of the meeting congratulated Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on best diplomacy. They also agreed to continue the series of consultative meetings for devising a strategy.

OIC reaffirms its unwavering support to Kashmiri people: FO
A day earlier, the OIC Ministerial meeting that concluded on Saturday in Abu Dhabi reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people in their just cause, said a press release issued by the Foreign Office. In a resolution adopted by the 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM), the OIC member states reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains the core dispute between Pakistan and India and its resolution is indispensable for the dream for peace in South Asia. The OIC resolution also condemned in the strongest terms recent wave of Indian terrorism in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and expressed deep concern over the atrocities and human rights violations in IoK. The resolution also reminded the international community of its obligation to ensure implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. In the context of current volatile situation in the region, the OIC member states adopted a new resolution sponsored by Pakistan, which expressed grave concern over the Indian violation of Pakistani airspace; affirmed Pakistan’s right to self-defence; and urged India to refrain from the threat or use of force.

Earlier, the OIC has condemned in the strongest terms recent wave of Indian terrorism in Indian-held Jammu Kashmir and expressed deep concern over the atrocities and human rights violations in the valley. In a resolution adopted by the 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in Abu Dhabi, the OIC member states reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains the core dispute between Pakistan and India and its resolution is indispensable for the dream for peace in South Asia. It reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people in their just cause and reminded the international community of its obligation to ensure implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on the dispute.
