FM Shah Mahmood, Afghan president discuss terrorism, border fencing

KABUL (92 News) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a one on one meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul on Saturday. Both countries also held the delegation level talks. They discussed elimination of terrorism from the region, fencing of the border, bilateral relations as well as the issues pertaining to regional peace and security. After the talks, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that they had the same challenges and would have to deal with them through mutual cooperation. He said that both countries will have to expedite the process of cooperation. Shah Mahmood Qureshi termed the Ulema Council a positive step, saying that a meeting of Ulema from both countries could be held after Muharram 10. “Certainly the meeting will prove beneficial for Pakistan and Afghanistan,” he added. The Afghan foreign minister said that Afghanistan wants good relations with all countries, including Pakistan. He welcomed Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s statement about Afghanistan. According to a declaration, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi offered to train the Afghan police in Pakistan. He also handed over a letter of a gift of 40,000 tons of wheat from Prime Minister Imran Khan to the Afghan president.
