FO summons Indian Deputy HC JP Singh over ceasefire violations along LoC

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Office summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian forces along the Line of Control in Nikial Sector on Saturday. According to a press release issued by the Foreign Office, the latest ceasefire violation resulted in the martyrdom of a 30-year-old woman and injuries to her three sisters. Director General South Asia and SAARC Dr Muhammad Faisal said deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws. He underscored that the ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation. The Director General urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Agreement, investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations, instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary. He asked the Indian side to permit UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions. In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 900 ceasefire violations so far on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the martyrdom of 21 innocent civilians and injuries to 90 others.
