FO welcomes establishment of OIC’s Human Rights Commission in Kashmir

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria has on Sunday welcomed the establishment of a standing mechanism by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) for monitoring the human rights situation in Kashmir and called upon India to allow the OIC Fact Finding Mission and the international human rights groups and humanitarian organizations access to Kashmir. Foreign Office spokesman said in its statement issued on Sunday that OIC called on India to implement UN resolutions on Indian-held Kashmir and expressed concern at the "violations of human rights" in the state. "The 13th OIC Summit, held in Istanbul from 10-15 April, called on India to implement pending UN Security Council resolutions on Indian-held Kashmir, expressed concern at the gross violations of human rights committed" in Kashmir. Pakistan Foreign Office said that the OIC also "affirmed support to the Kashmir struggle and called upon the UN for implementation of the Security Council's relevant Resolutions on Kashmir." According to Foreign office Spokesman, in a joint communiqué in Istanbul has expressed concern at the indiscriminate use of force and gross violations of human rights committed in Indian occupied Kashmir by the Indian security forces.
