ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that food security can become a national security issue.
Addressing the National Kissan Convention on Thursday, he said that Pakistan had to import four million tons of wheat last year.
He said that a particular community had occupied the national resources. "A big discrepancy has been maintained in education. As a result, English medium schools increased and standard of government schools dropped," he maintained.
The prime minister said that it was mandatory to prosper the farmer. "The record production of wheat has been witnessed after the farmer became prosper," he added.
He said that Pakistan has very fertile land, but 30 percent of its fruit and vegetables go waste. "We should utilize our capabilities. We are bringing technology from China and will help small farmers," he added.
