Foreign Ministry sets up Crisis Management Cell amid rising tensions with India

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Foreign ministry set up a Crisis Management cell due to escalating tensions with India after Pulwama incident. Crisis Management Cell will remain in touch with the diplomatic and border situation. According to Foreign Office spokesman, the Crisis Management Cell will work 24 hours. Earlier, Foreign Minister Qureshi said that he had written a letter to the UN secretary general, requesting him to play his role for the “de-escalation” of current tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Pulwama attack. FM Qureshi said in his letter he had raised concerns over the negative tactics used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government ahead of the elections in India. He said he had cautioned the secretary-general about India’s efforts. The FM said that the UN Chief has been requested to play his part for the de-escalation of current tensions created by irresponsible attitude of the Indian government after the Pulwama attack. He also said Pakistan has given a very measured and responsible response to the baseless accusations of India. Weeks before the attack in Indian-held Jammu Kashmir, the minister said, the Pakistan Foreign Office had informed the envoys of P5 countries that Islamabad feared that India would create a Pakistan-bashing atmosphere ahead of its elections and could resort to some misadventure in order to galvanise the extremist Hindu vote. Pakistan has categorically rejected the Indian allegation of its involvement in the Pulwama attack in Occupied Kashmir. Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal, in a statement, said that the Pulwama attack in the Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir is a matter of grave concern. “We have always condemned heightened acts of violence in the Valley. We strongly reject any insinuation by elements in the Indian government and media circles that seek to link the attack to the State of Pakistan without investigations,” he said. Federal Minister Naeemul Haq said that they reject the Indian allegation of linking the Pulwama attack to Pakistan. Senator Rehman Malik said that Modi will continue to play stunts till election in India. “We will have to remain alert in coming days,” he said. “Modi’s India is escalating its response to a heinous #KashmirTerrorAttack by premising Pakistan’s hand in it. Yet Islamabad makes no gains from such an attack,” she pointed out. “Instead of a political response to years of brutal repression in Kashmir, hysteria is being amplified against Pakistan.”
