Foreign secretary briefs diplomatic corps regarding IoK

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood briefed the diplomatic corps regarding the continued human rights violations perpetrated by India in Occupied Kashmir (IoK). Sohail Mahmood said basic human rights are in abeyance in the held territory, with complete lock down and ban on communication. He said the innocent Kashmiris demanding their right to self-determination in the light of UN resolutions are being subjected to pallet guns. He apprised the diplomats that more than one hundred thousand innocent Kashmiris have been martyred in Indian oppression. The diplomatic corps was also shown a documentary that unveiled the Indian brutalities on innocent Kashmiris. A day earlier, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood said that the SAARC charter day reminds us of the resolve made to fight poverty, illiteracy and disease. addressing a ceremony in connection with the 35th SAARC Charter day, Pakistan has reaffirmed the resolve to make SAARC Process successful. The foreign secretary pointed out that the South Asian region is faced with multiple challenges and the regional countries need to frame a collective strategy to cope with them. On the occasion, Maldives Ambassador Ahmed Saleem said SAARC forum was established to rid the region of poverty and to achieve economic stability. “We will have to undertake joint efforts to achieve sustainable development and meet other targets,” he added. On this occasion, a special energy stall was also set up by the Director SAARC Energy Center Muhammad Naeem Malik which presented energy solution models for the backward areas of SAARC countries.
